"According to the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics, it is common for babies to bite during breastfeeding, especially during teeth eruption.
To relieve your baby's gum discomfort, you can offer a cold, damp cloth or a teether (without gel).
If the baby bites the breast, there is no need to stop breastfeeding. Ensuring a 'take' correctly, with the tongue between the teeth and the nipple, the risk of biting is minimized.
If the baby insists on biting, remain calm and try to bring the baby closer to the breast, or use your finger to gently release the nipple from the baby's mouth.
To prevent biting, observe the signs that the baby is at the end of the feeding and ensure an adequate position during breastfeeding.
